Specialised Facilities

In addition to Garston Agribulk Store, ABP operates a bagging and distribution terminal for bulk and bagged commodities, along with a 350 tonnes-per-hour shiploader for coal and other dry-bulk exports. Northwest Stevedores (part of Armitt Group) operates the quayside bulk-export facility at North Dock and the steel-handling terminal at Stalbridge Dock. Situated partly within the boundaries of the port estate, Freightliner’s Liverpool Terminal provides a daily nationwide service for rail and road freight.

ABP Maxit Terminal, opened in 2005 and operated in conjunction with Maxit Ltd, is a first-class handling and distribution facility which provides high-speed bagging and palletising of lightweight aggregates. The terminal comprises 13,000 sq m of open and undercover storage and handles Maxit’s imports from throughout Europe, which are then forwarded on through the port’s excellent facilities and transport connections.

Terminal Operators & Stevedoring

ABP and Northwest Stevedores undertake stevedoring and terminal operations at Garston. ABP, in conjunction with contractor Garston Port Stevedores, handles products including milling wheat, animal feedstuff, general bagged bulk products and project cargoes. Both operators offer users a full warehousing and distribution service and have the expertise to meet customers’ logistical requirements.
