Located on the south coast and with excellent transport links to the M5 motorway, Teignmouth is ideally situated to serve the south-west of England. For over two centuries, the port has handled local ball clay which is distributed in shipments of up to 3,500 tonnes to all parts of Europe.

The port is also equipped with extensive, modern GAFTA-/UKASTA-approved warehouse facilities, all of which have load-bearing walls and are capable of storing virtually any type of cargo. Teignmouth operates its own fully computerised warehouse stock-control system and, over the past few years, has built up a substantial animal-feed importation business. It is also the nominated heavy-lift port for the region.

In addition to servicing its staple trades, the port is well equipped to handle a wide variety of commodities, all of which are handled by its own fully experienced stevedoring workforce. Recent cargoes handled include slag cement, grain, salt, timber, stone and fertilisers. Using its open storage, the port handles, sorts to mark, and redelivers both pre- and un-slung timber.

The port can work ships simultaneously on each of its four berths, and can cater for vessels of up to 119 m length and 5 m draught. Larger cranage has been acquired to service vessels of up to 17 m beam.

Teignmouth offers:

  • excellent connections to motorway network

  • four working berths

  • extensive modern warehousing

  • equipment for handling a wide variety of cargoes

  • a full range of services

  • fast turnaround times
