PORT OF GRIMSBY LAYS ON A “FANTASTIC” WELCOME
HMS Grimsby, the Royal Navy’s minehunter which was based in the Gulf during the recent conflict with Iraq, was recently welcomed to its home port of Grimsby.

The ship’s captain, Lieutenant Commander Paul Brown, commented on the “fantastic” welcome they were given at the port:

“Despite all the anticipation of our arrival, I was quite overwhelmed by the number of people who had turned out to see us and the general warmth of the welcome on the jetty. I have seen 12 years of homecomings from operations and this was striking. It was wonderful.”

Associated British Ports’ (ABP’s) Port of Grimsby’s Assistant Port Manager, Roger Arundale, (pictured left), and Grimsby Dock Master, Captain Martin Gough, (pictured right) welcomed the ship’s captain to the port.
