ABP ANNOUNCES SENIOR MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS

Following a restructuring of its senior management, the UK’s largest port operator, Associated British Ports (ABP), has announced appointments to key positions, which will take effect on 1 October.

Simon Brett, 36, has been promoted to the post of Deputy Port Manager of the UK’s number-one port in tonnage terms, ABP Grimsby & Immingham. Prior to this, he was Deputy Port Manager, ABP’s South Wales Ports. Simon joined the Company as a management trainee in 1991, and has held various posts including Commercial Manager, Cardiff, and Marketing Manager, Hull.

Nick Ridehalgh, 37, has been promoted to Port Manager for ABP’s North-West Ports – Barrow, Fleetwood, Garston and Silloth.Currently the Port Manager for King’s Lynn and Lowestoft, Nick joined ABP as a management trainee in 1991, subsequently becoming Operations Manager, Ipswich.

Callum Couper, 45, currently Port Manager, Garston & Fleetwood, has been promoted to Deputy Port Manager, South Wales Ports. In 1986, he joined ABP as a management trainee and has held various senior management positions, including Operations Officer, Cardiff & Barry.

Robert Smith, 49, currently Port Manager, Ipswich, has been promoted to Port Manager, East Anglian Ports – Ipswich, King’s Lynn and Lowestoft. Robert joined ABP in 1971 as a clerk at the Port of Hull; he has held a number of senior managerial positions, including Deputy Port Manager, Grimsby & Immingham, and Port Manager, Newport.
