EXPANSION OF TRADE AT ABP GOOLE

Associated British Ports (ABP) is investing £647,000 in new storage facilities at its Port of Goole for one of the port's major customers - Global Shipping Services Ltd.

Global Shipping Services (‘Global’) currently handles imports of timber and general cargo through a terminal at West Dock in Goole. On the back of a term agreement with Global, ABP will develop a 5,000 sq m extension to Global’s facility, enabling the company to handle additional volumes of timber for Russian timber traders, Tsar Timber. The new facility will be operational in August 2005.

Doug Morrison, Port Director, ABP Hull & Goole, said:

“By working with quality customers, we can build on Goole’s position as a leading foreign-trading port. These new developments will increase trade through the port by enabling Global to expand its operations.”

Roger Leitch, Managing Director, Global Shipping Services, said:

"We are delighted Tsar has chosen to make this substantial commitment to Goole and look forward to helping them consolidate and expand their activities over the coming years.”
