ABP APPOINTS NEW GENERAL COUNSEL

Associated British Ports (ABP) has named Andrew Garner as the Company’s new General Counsel, with his appointment taking effect from 1 November 2005. Andrew joins ABP after serving as General Counsel Corporate for First Choice Holidays PLC for the past four years.

An Oxford graduate, Andrew, 37, qualified as a solicitor with law firm Linklaters & Paines in 1993. Following Linklaters, he worked for Unigate PLC, which included the St Ivel and Wincanton Logistics businesses, before joining First Choice Holidays in 2001.

Andrew succeeds Stephen Walsh who served as ABP’s General Counsel for three-and-a-half years.

Bo Lerenius, ABP’s Group Chief Executive, welcomed Andrew’s appointment:

“Andrew comes to us with an excellent reputation and considerable experience within his field. We have every confidence that he will be a valuable asset to ABP.”

Andrew Garner said:

“I am delighted to be joining ABP and very much look forward to the challenge of contributing to the Company’s future growth and success.”

Andrew is married with two young children. He is an associate member of the MCC, and counts golf and tennis among his sporting interests.
