ABP APPOINTS NEW ENGINEERING MANAGER FOR GRIMSBY & IMMINGHAM

Sean Blissett has been appointed Engineering Manager for Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Port of Grimsby & Immingham.  He succeeds Gordon Bulter, 60, who is retiring from his post after 15 years’ loyal service to the Company.

Mr Blissett, 40, joined ABP in 1982, as Senior Technical Assistant for the Port of Grimsby & Immingham.  In 1998, he was promoted to Project Engineer for civil works, and in 2002, following reorganisation, he was promoted to his current post as Maintenance Manager.

Gordon Bulter joined ABP in 1991 from Posford Duvivier Inc. where he was the Resident Engineer.  One of the highlights of Mr Bulter’s career is the engineering work he supervised as civil team leader and operations manager to build the world’s largest coal-handling facility, the Richards Bay Coal Terminal in South Africa. Latterly at ABP’s Port of Grimsby & Immingham, he was responsible for multi-million-pound infrastructure projects, including Humber International Terminal 2 and the Immingham Outer Harbour.

Nick Palmer, Port Director of ABP’s Port of Grimsby & Immingham, said: ”Sean brings not only his skills, but also his tremendous energy and enthusiasm to his new job.  He is being promoted to this post at a very interesting time in the port’s development.

”We wish Gordon and his family all the best in retirement.  During his tenure as Port Engineer for the UK’s largest and busiest port complex, the port witnessed a great wave of infrastructure development and expansion.”

Sean Blissett, who is married with two young children, is an Associated Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and an Incorporated Engineer of the Engineering Council.
